Are we about to see a boom of new parks? Interestingly the image in the article reminds me of a “future” park that we talked about on our show a couple years ago that never seemed to materialize but I’m drawing a blank on the details.

Wish them the best but this is extremely ambitious and I’ll believe it when I see it. They’re gonna have a hell of a time competing with Silver Dollar City. Also their attendance projection is whack. That is double SDC, and even more than places like Cedar Point.

I’m assuming that’s the total number of tourists including everyone going to the RV and hotel portions. Still insanely ambitious but maybe not out of the question since Branson got about 10 million visitors last year.

Seems like a really odd spot for that kind of investment given that the area already has a world class park with Silver Dollar City.

It really depends on how they approach things and how much they are willing to invest in future returns rather than short term. I think the biggest hindrance of building parks is the demand for instant revenue but if you are willing to wait you can be successful.

I also think that parks often complement each other just as much as they compete. Just because SDC is nearby doesn’t mean that people visiting SDC don’t want a second option in addition to that. KD and BGW both have always done well and all of the PA parks do extremely well. Since rides are unique it’s typically not an either/or situation.
