What app is this?
Tootik. It’s an ActivityPub-based microblogging service for Gemini (an alternative to HTTP).
Of course, it can look very different depending on your client.
I’ve actually used Gemini but I didn’t realize that there were services like that on it. The only things I’ve used it for were some traditional style blogs. Can you point me to some good Gemini lists or indexes?
Can’t point you towards any lists, I’m afraid. However, I can list a few interesting places:
- Hashnix’ Misfin - This is a Misfin provider, which is a Gemini equivalent of email.
- Station - A Gemini-only microblogging platform.
- Bubble/BBS - Another Gemini-only microblogging platform, but with Lemmy-style communities. This can be self-hosted, but is not federated. This also supports image uploads through Titan, which is only supported by Lagrange at the moment (as well as standalone Titan clients).
- Tootik - A part of the fediverse. This is a very small instance (~2 active users), but it’s nice enough. Federation can be a bit hit-and-miss, especially with services like Misskey, but I blame that on the lack of activity.
- Gemi.dev Heavy Industries - This capsule has a bunch of useful services and fun programs, including interactive games.
- Auragem - Another capsule with some fun stuff. This is also where the Scroll protocol is being developed.
- Gopherpedia - A frontend for Wikipedia, over the Gopher protocol.
- 04dco’s Gopher Hole - A pretty big Gopher hole with loads of random files. Not necessarily useful, but quite interesting to browse.
