What does “make other public performance of it” mean? Am I subject to licence revokation if I make a screenshot and post it on social media or something?
I can’t read “You must not […] broadcast it” as anything but banning streamers from playing Helldivers 2?
This puzzled me as well. It is meant to mean classic television I assume, but I also think it should be argued streaming is a form of broadcasting
I wrote them to ask permission and got this response: https://lemm.ee/comment/15954329
a “public performance” is something like a concert, stage production, or public screening where people are gathered who are not family members.
a static screenshot would not be considered one, but might be covered elsewhere in the document; but also allowed anyway by fair use.
I see, ambiguous natural language terms with stricter legal meaning strike again.
I would imagine it covers eSports events
Maybe we should all email sony and ask for permission
I think it would be an interesting concerted effort to question every multinational company’s legal team for every clause in their terms, conditions and privacy policies, when they do something like Disney and make you waive your rights to sue on someone’s behalf for killing them, if you signed up for their streaming service.
I wrote them, here’s their response: https://lemm.ee/comment/15954329
I decided to write support and ask them permission to stream the game, here’s their response:
MVP
Nintendo has the same clause. Seems to be a weird thing Japanese game studios do
It is saying not to do things that could make money off of HDII without their permission, including live public performances.
