Just kidding, my apartment is much too small for a proper homelab… maybe someday…

In the meantime, please show off what you’re working with!

I’m quite proud of it. It hangs on the wall next to the TV in the basement, quietly pumping out my various services.

Sweet! Love the passive cooling, did you have to get those custom-made?

They’re commercial grade sign PCs. Shockingly inexpensive on ebay, and built to last forever.

Can you give some examples on the specs on these? Your setup looks cool and I’m curious

The two on top are relatively weak, they’re Intel Atom D2550s with 4GB of RAM and 250GB SSDs. I’ve got one running searx and invidious, the other one is running lotide (something like lemmy) and Matrix Conduit. It’s actually surprising, they both basically idle the CPU running that software (but Matrix Synapse or Dendrite will peg one of them at 100% permanently)

The one on the bottom is an Intel Core i5-4570TE (2 cores, 4 threads) with 16GB of RAM. I’ve actually got two of those, one is in the photo as my main web server and reverse proxy, the other is my firewall. The web server has a 1TB Samsung SSD, the other has a smaller 128GB SSD (I think? It’s been a while). These things are great, honestly. Part of me wants to go back and buy a couple more, they’re cheap as dirt and quite powerful.

I’ve also got a Core 2 Duo that I’m running lemmy off of. It’s also fanless. It’s got a 1TB WD Blue SSD.

I took a quick browse on eBay to see if I could find anything like this, but everything I saw was a lot smaller. What kind of search terms do you use when buying these?

I found some immediately searching eBay for “ndis fanless”. The NDiS B533 is the big guy, and I saw 3 listings at various prices

And if anyone is wondering, this Lemmy instance is not running on a Raspberry ;)

I’m curious, what is this instance running on? That’s definitely something I’m curious about with most of these instances I’ve looked around on.
