So the likely scenario is that two stars continued to cannibalize each other to the point where neither got close enough to that super Jupiter sized planet. Neat.
When everything that is possible has been ruled out, the only possible explanation is the impossible.
I say the place is inhabited by advanced sentients who managed to shield their home from the full force of an expanding sun. Let’s hope they don’t object too much to us watching them…
