I’ve played Diablo 1 and world of Warcraft which is slightly similar, but just tried d3 a week ago. I play most games on my switch, I grabbed the eternal edition a while back. The spec system looks really basic, but it gets fairly deep with runes and legendary items. What amazes me the most is the speed, there are a ton of graphical effects popping on high level gameplay, and zero slowdown even with 100+ enemies casting spells constantly. I’ve maxxed two characters so far and gearing them now.
D3 had a bad reputation at launch because it was a sequel to an all time classic and had very big shoes to fill, as well as RMAH, but it’s an absolutely solid game now and yes, it is very well optimised
Hard agree. I had taken a break for a few years and popped back in when D4 hype was at its highest. I really appreciate how much tinkering with the internal systems the seasons model allowed for. It also helps that D2 got some nice graphic upgrades with Resurrected, so it doesn’t sting how different D3 is IMO.
I played D2R on a Series X and the graphics really are gorgeous, but considering that it’s just a layer running on top of a game that’s almost a quarter century old now, I remember that it was way too demanding for what it is. It also lacks QoL options - auto pickup, a modern inventory etc.
I’ve been disappointed with how much de-syncing and rubber-banding occurs in D4 so hopping back on D3 is a breath of fresh air
I loved Diablo Iii but I could not stand having full equipment and then spending the next 40 minutes min maxing and checking what I wanted to keep…got old fast…
Gearing and speccing are my favorite parts of cideo games
I remember playing it together with a friend on release day. We beat the game the same evening and were bummed how few maps there were, how quickly it was over and how it wants you to just start the loot spiral so quickly. Haven‘t played it since, so it might well be super good now. Oh, ‘member the real cash auction house they eventually removed? lol
