I created a community on this server /c/youtube after confirming that it did not currently exist (yes, I selected “all” not just “local”).

However, when searching on to Lemmy.ml instance I am seeing my community does not exist and there is already a YouTube community existing on there.

I was under the impression that communities were shared across servers or does it work another way?

    Trying to figure out how to add !tafkars@feddit.de checked a couple of lemmy instances and it doesn’t seem to exist. Though on lemmy.world I am able to view. I have tried adding it to search a couple times but it doesn’t seem to find/do anything. Is it just that feddit.de or fmhy.ml are not able to talk to each other?
