So Perseverance could, at this very moment, have fossils of Martian life in its inventory. When’s the return mission supposed to happen and how many points if failure will it be subject to? Hoping for a success like with the infrared telescope.
The MSR mission (like a lot of missions) is experiencing issues. It’s extremely complex, containing a stack of things never attempted before, so I’m sure it’s loaded with ‘points-of-failure’. However so have earlier missions. With good planning, enough budget, solid design and engineering I hope we will see it happen before this decade is out, if not early into the 30’s
