I will never understand why the city chose to pull up the old stops and replace them with these flimsy things.

I think it was an anti-homeless attempt.
The answer is no.
This was some years ago but one of the things that finally prompted me to get a car was waiting so long at a bus stop that I got sunburned.
Nope. Even the considerably nicer CapMetro Rail stations aren’t great in this regard.
