Yeah thank you for that… The thing at the time was that I thought it was about the large hadron collider going into operation, but I only found out now that it was just the American release of some anime. Both happened on the same day, and what was important to the “community” was not one of mankind’s greatest scientific achievements of all time, but the American release of some anime film

You should check out Gurren Lagann. It’s one of my favorite animes of all time. It’s stupid on the surface level, but underneath it’s profoundly philosophical. The middle section drags, but the climax pulls it off with a backflip.

thats a heavy lift as a recommendation dont you think? It seems stupid, but it has deep layers. Also, it gets super boring in the middle. if you can make it to the end its very good, though!

Honestly Ive seen about 3 or 4 anime ever and they’re all super western crossover mainstream … we used to watch dubbed dragonball z on cartoon planet, and Ive seen spirited away and parts of akira. Its ok, its just really not my thing. I dont think its bad, its just… how to put it… you know how some things are quite popular and you can see why and everything, but it just doesn’t excite you, right? other than “yeah its cool and everything” theres just not a lot there.

like I like horror films, and I’ll see one that I think my wife will like, and i make her watch it and she, ya know, gets scared and everything, but when theyre over and I asked how she liked it, shes like “It was fine” , no matter how good. Like the best horror flicks in the last 5 years (A Dark Song and The Night House) and shes like “sure”. We enjoy a lot of the same things, but I just know they dont do shit for her, so I watch em with friends, or with my friend Jack Daniels. Come to think of it though, there are exceptions, she likes 28 Days Later and House of 1,000 corpses- very different with different intents and different deliveries… anyway yeah :)
