The Teamsters union has served Canadian National Railway (CN) with a 72-hour strike notice, hours after saying it was taking down picket lines and workers were returning to the job.

The CN statement issued Friday afternoon said that for the past nine months, the company has negotiated in good faith by proposing “serious offers, with better pay, improved rest, and more predictable schedules.”

“This latest development confirms that the Teamsters never took negotiations seriously and that they had no desire to reach a deal,” the statement said.

Bullshit. CN is the one who deferred negotiating for a year.

    Fucking asswipes.

Yeah, I wonder if they considered at all the consequence of potentially having BOTH CN and CPKS in the position to strike. Or, if they did, and this is what they came up with… Wow. What a fuckup.

Well they behave exactly the same way as the unions. They know the economic damage this will result in so they’re holding it hostage in the hope the government will intervene on their side. Only one problem though - at the end of day, the people doing the work have the ultimate power to work or not to, even at the point of a gun.
