Beautifully well down Epic. This is what should be allowed for discontinued games so community that loves them can still enjoy them.
they still pulled them from GoG. Why not release them there for free? Epic slapped its legacy fanbase in the face with its handling of the Unreal series and then dumped it on the internet archive to wash its hands of it. They have no respect for their own heritage. This is not the same company that once released the likes of the titan pack as free DLC. It’s just a shadow of it’s former self, pushing fortnite micro transaction trash.
I guess they see GOG as a rival storefront (we know Epic love their exclusives), but the IA isn’t potentially taking their business. Maybe, who knows?
I am OK with shitty companies washing their hands of it by letting it be freeware.
In fact that’s my preferred way for them to do it. Way better.

Valve also gave away HL2 for free on steam, for anyone who didn’t have it. What exactly are you demanding above that? To be paid to get it or something?

Instead of “good guys”, feels more like “drunk guys”. They removed the games from everywhere, and even the moderators from GOG’s forum, despite usually trying to be as silent as possible for any matters (specially thorny ones), seemed at loss when that happened. And now, out of the blue, EGS granted permission to use Internet Archive’s uploads for the games.
