This morning was the second day in a row I went on a 2.5 mile hike with the doggo. I have a few neat parks by me and this one has a stream with two small waterfalls.
Obviously it’s only the second day, but I hope to keep it up. This hilly 2.5 mile loop burns about 800 calories according to Alltrails, and I did manage to lose quite a bit of weight the last time I hiked regularly.
I highly recommend hiking, it can be as easy or as hard as you like, and it is a great way to get some quiet time to yourself if that is something you are craving.
That looks so wonderful! I do wish I could spend more time exploring nature (work has me very busy these days).
My wife and I recently moved to a small town with a privately owned, 2000 acre forest preserve; we took a picnic lunch just a short way in a while back, and I desperately want to explore more of it.
That sounds nice, I hope you’ll find the time soon.
That’s awesome. In my case I have to wake up at 5-5:30 if I want to get a 1 hr hike in.
Looks absolutely gorgeous, makes me want to go out and enjoy nature and life as well!
Go do it! I was pushing it off for months and now I am waking up when I want to (before 5:30am), feeling better about myself, and I’ve shed a few pounds. Just take it slow, and I recommend AllTrails to keep track of adventures.
Being in the woods is just so calming. Great pics!
Don’t forget to tick check yourself! And obviously make sure your dogs have their meds.
That’s a beautiful wood, though. Particularly adore your waterfall.
For sure. Our cub scout pack just had a camping trip and in one hour I had removed three of them. We are in NJ and they are everywhere.
Are you getting them tested for Lyme? I don’t actually know the range of it, but I heard it’s been spreading.
We are quick with removing them. The three I removed didn’t even have a chance to latch on, but I have had tick bites in the past. Fortunately, not every tick carries the bacteria and it has to hang on for an extended period. That’s why it’s key to check for them afterwards. Either way, the idea is to watch for symptoms like the bulls eye rash after a bite and the seek medical attention ASAP if those symptoms appear.
Love it
I always find it really hard to just go out and simply go around for “nothing”, but once im out there its the best thing in the world
The waterfall looks beautiful, what a great place to unwind! I always love bringing my hammock with me on hikes. It’s a great way to take in all of the sights and sounds of the forest, especially if you ever try any longer hikes and need to take a break for a few minutes. I highly recommend finding one if you’re trying to spend more time outdoors.
We need a hiking community on Lemmy.
There is a hiking community on lemmy.ml, but it hasn’t had a post in 2 years. About time we get that back up and running!
