What the fuck?! I’ve seen some similar tales from content creators now…is this a “Ok ok, I know we tried to gaslight you and all but we get it, actually the economy isn’t great for you!”

However this all concludes whether it be: the worst case, best case, or mixed case scenario I honestly have to wonder out loud how anyone is expected to take phrases like “rules base international order” and “human rights” seriously ever again going forward?

Like I’m not naive and I know it was always bullshit and the rules have always been whatever we say they are but like…is this really gonna just be a case where everything is memory holled and everyone just tried to act like it wasn’t all exposed as a fucking sham for everyone to see?

I’m struggling to be cynical enough to believe it will play out like that…so I worry I am naive.

Mars itself maybe not but there’s definitely significant mineral deposits in the solar system that could be extracted, no? I don’t disagree it would be more expensive and difficult to terraform mars than anything else in the history of our species and the idea that we could do so under current conditions is hardly rational…but ultimately the system we live under requires and demands perpetual unending growth so that’s a circle you’ve got to square somehow.

Far far smarter writers and philosophers than me have written on this topic. I think the general pitch was that terraforming a planet like mars was basically a new westward expansion and would kind of…maybe not “solve” but at least delay a lot of the problems we have at home.

I think it was established pretty early on that Ukraine being a failed state is, for all intents and purposes, a win for Russia. It’s preferable to them being a NATO member at least.

You know I sometimes wonder, if Star Wars never existed, if I would be roughly the same person I am today or not.

…I KNOW with absolute certainty I absolutely would not be the person I am today without seeing DBZ in my formative years. I cannot imagine a version of me lifting heavy in the gym to the point of sheer exhaustion without Vegeta quotes to motivate me. I don’t know how else I would have gotten into my dumb fighting game community hobby and gotten obsessed with getting stronger and training for tournaments without having Goku and the Zfighters as goals. Its wild cause I know how shockingly not unique that story and experience actually is.

Toriyama is probably more responsible than any other person in the last century by a country mile for exporting anime and by extension Japanese culture to the world. 68 is still to young but by Kame what an unbelievable legacy to leave behind.
