  • Yeah, and men who support women’s right. Need to support this as well.

Seriously, look at recent events in Texas. Having sex with women while republicans are in power. It is a potential death sentence for those women.

Unless you can groove beyond doubt, one off you is infertile. And honestly, given the way some republicans are. Only trust your own eyes on the microscope when checking. Because forcing doctors to lie to women is far from beyond some of these people.

Honestly, leaving the US for a more liberal nation is the only safe option the way things are looking.

Desiccant is used a lot in boats. ( in the uk at least where damp is an issue )

But is a different way to 3d printers. It’s more about directing condensation.

My thought is to build desiccant holders to mount near the boat windows. (not sure your location if you dont know narrowboat, So ill describe the issue)

My boat was built in the 1970s so is currently single glazed. We plan to do a complete rebuild of the inside and the glazing. But poor again so time.

This design tends to mean condensation builds up hugely on the windows. As the whole design of a steel boat leads to temp differences and the UK has high humidity. More so at water level of course.

The issue is the condensation then runs down from the windows along the wooden panels inside the boat. Doing huge damage over the years. One of the big reason owning a boat is costly. There is constant maintainance and replacement work. Im good at the electrics. But my younger brother dose most of the woodwork.

A common solution is to have a desiccant container with a water catcher below it positioned near the windows. This effectively absorbs some of the humidity before in condensates on the windows. Then, as the Desiccant overloads, releases it into the catcher.

You then need to empty the catcher and replace/dry the desiccant often. And honestly, it still just reduces the issue.

You can buy holders to do his. Sold for boats and caravans etc. But honestly they tend to be a bit universal, so not actually very usable.

Part of me thinks I can design a 3 part system that can be mounted. Have a drip pipe leading directly to the bilge rather than running down the walls. Then have slot in desiccant units that can be carried home and back and microwaved as we swap over.

  • Yeah no disagreement.

My comment was more being practical. IE the real world we live in. If it was not for conflict ( first ww2 then cold war ). Rockets and space travel would never have seen the funding needed to develop. This goes on the pretty much everything - GPS, communications, weather n and on. All of it was funded mainly due to the military.

Without that it is hard if not impossible to imagine the wealthy considering the investment in tech worthwhile. And at the end of it. Real world the desire for the rich to protect or grow their position is the cause of all the above throughout history.

Honestly, I’m not saying this is a good thing, it’s fucking depressing.

But without war. I doubt the world would have moved past feudalism. There just would not be the motivation to change.

  • Yep. That is more about getting weight into space. As we know water can provide protection.

But the issue of moving water from earth to space then building a 2 layered craft strong enough to surrou d passengers with a foot or more of water. While doable theoretically. Is just a huge huge task.

If mankind is seriose about such. Robotic collection of ice from space is more practice. Moving it towards earth using it to create hydrogen and oxygen slowly via solar. Then using that to move the water itself into earth near orbit. From there building a vessel able to rotate and protect occupants from radiation etc would be possible.

But seriosly the amount of work involved. Mars really is not the best place to go. Once humanity has developed the ability to generate graverty. Confirmed mankind can live is centrifugal generated enviroments. And developed to robotics to move ice and asteroids into orbit.

Honestly building O’Neil station like structures would be healthier then trying to live in 1/3 g of Mars anyway. Mars is worth learning about. But musks population plan is not really the best way to make humanity less at risk of planetary loss.

  • Some corrections.

The boat and the workshop are separate. My brother and I share a 25ft x 6ft10inch narrowboat. We tend to travel over spring and summer swapping over as we move it around the UK.

The tiny area I scanned (not well) was the engine room as it is under tge rear deck so low down small and cannot like many boats be opened from the top.

Hence the need to measure things to layout access.

The workshop is in my 2 bed home. So less crowded.

It is cool that you remember the stuff. When the boat is done I’ll def share pics. But my mobility and costs mean its likely to be a year or 2 before all is done.

Most of the stuff is together. (obtained wise) Mounting etc is a big part of the 3d printer. But likely after the engine room.

The smaller pie is planned to manage the solar dump. along with a diesal air to water heater (Bobil Van) Linked in but only temp shut off via the pie.

All the mounting etc comes after the bilge and engin electronics.

Likely early 26 for finisjh given our mobility. (edit: and poverty, that’s the bit that takes longest:)

    Thanks for remembering

  • Agreed.

Hell it would be a fair argument to renationalise all buses and trains and make the service free as a whole.

Honestly that would be a very logical way about doing things. Companies (specifically high street retail but all companies) would benifit hugely. It would trully encourage Public transport over car use . Assuming matched with investment in services.

And remember the lack of rural public transport since 2010 is forcing more and more non working retired or disabled people to be forced to move into cities etc. This is hugly increasing competition for housing and increasing the cost/distance lower paid workers are having to travel to work.

But honestly non of these options was ever on offer. Yes its entirly fair to say hay more could be done.

But it is no way acceptable to attack people as shill just for sharing the announcement as is. It is just attacking for the sake of attacking.

  • They could have. And that would be cool.

But it would only be a false dichotomy if the true positives and negatives were completely ignored and only the reduced discount was considered.

The simple fact is UK bus services have been hugly underfunded and cut under tories since 2010. Many rural areas litrally no longer haveing any public transport at all.

This causes huge issues. As it forces disabled(non working) or elderly retired people to move into the very housing that lower paid working class people need to compete for. Making the cost of transport a greater part of lower income daily costs.

The simple fact is the tories had no plans to continue the £2 discount forever. And had absolutely no plans at all to invest in improving buses. (Or responding the long since closed trainlines).

Yes their are lots of thing that could be done better.

Hell their is a huge huge argument for making all public transport free. Its pretty much what is needed to ensure reduced car use. Amd would hugly help UK High streets etc. But again can only help if we are also spending money on expanding the existing destroyed public transport system we have.

No one with any brains expects this budget to be a left wing give away. No matter how much many of us may feel that would actually be better. That is just never what either party promised.

But to accuse people of being shills and outright refuse to discuse the positives that are being offered is the very definition of being biased and dishonest in comparisons.
