They’re the same comic but the noir one is black and white with no color. Lovern Kindzierski, the colorist, is only listed for the regular special issue, with no colorist in the credits for the noir version.

Ah fond memories of crouching in the suit with the pip light on.
“We’re all lit up. Is it Christmas?”
I think the most memorable is probably The Wolf of Wall Street but it was nowhere near as awkward as it could have been. My sister and her husband wanted to see a movie with the family in theaters. Luckily the uproarious constant laughter from the packed theater was far more manageable than the awkward silence that would have happened with an at-home watch.
What really got me was that a whole group of my friends had planned on seeing it the week before, but one very difficult guy insisted that he would not go see a “boring movie about financial crime” and made such a huge fuss that we finally agreed to see American Hustle instead, which was a very tame movie “about financial crime” funny enough.
After, that guy said he was bored for the entire movie (despite the fact that American Hustle was actually pretty good). If it wasn’t for the fact that The Wolf of Wall Street is exactly the kind of movie you want to see with your friends and not your parents, and that American Hustle would have been a perfect movie to see with the family, I’m not sure it would stick out in my mind so much.
Bartholomew Kuma’s incredible powers from eating the paw paw fruit and his ability to sneak into a lot of situations in One Piece is adding up!
Cassidy is arguably one of the best companions you can travel with in Fallout 2 for combat, especially if you give him a Gauss rifle. The hardened wasteland veteran that got old and settled down as a bartender in Vault City unless you go there and ask him to join you. The con is his prejudice against Lenny the ghoul, another companion you can travel with, and will insult Lenny if you travel with both at once. The pro is he also hates Myron, the sadistic drug supplier/slaver/sex predator, and Cass will endlessly insult him if you end up recruiting Myron to travel with both of you.
Just the fact that she’s John Cassidy’s (from Fallout 2) daughter won me over, but beyond that Rose of Sharon “Cass” Cassidy is a fun companion with great voice acting and dialogue that I repeat still to this day,
Mobius is pretty fascinating and Klein is hilarious! They all have their own quirky charm that makes them all fun to interact with, though I’m partial to Dr. 0 simply because it’s the same guy that voiced Dr. Venture on The Venture Bros. and the Wild Wasteland trait has him reference the “giant walking eye” as a nod to the show.
Whose your favorite out of all the doctors at the Big MT?
No announcement or confirmation from Night School Studio regarding GOG, Steam, the Playstation Store, or the Nintendo eShop as of yet. My guess is they would give a decent warning announcement if it were to leave those outlets as well, but regardless I did download my copy from GOG to my backup drive just in case.
Cheeseburger with no onions and animal style fries I believe, and a beauty at that!
This is well presented and thorough, I gotta say he does a fantastic job at actually showing the big differences that make it really clear once he gets into it. I expected a lot of the Sega hardware to come up but was surprised to also learn about the current gen version of Super Monkey Ball vs the original.
Just to clarify, what temperature do you set your freezer at and does it stay that temp of do you notice it fluctuating more than a few degrees throughout the day?
I’m intrigued, I don’t play or follow Warhammer 40000 but I’ve always been interested in its concepts and style so I’m really interested in seeing that episode.
Also really stoked to see the Unreal Tournament episode since I have so many fond memories of crazy matches years ago. Definitely curious to see what they do with the Mega Man episode.
That just unlocked an old memory of the videogame Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars for the Wii!
I’ve got family members that have loyally progressed through this game over the course of years and they absolutely love it still. Great music throughout.
Gubernatorial
I’m not sure if it’s underrated but Mario Tennis Advance for the Game Boy Advance is a gigantic standout for the series.
It’s an action RPG from the same company that made the Golden Sun games for the GBA. The usual fun power hits and tennis mechanics with some of the tightest controls in the series with quality world building and the kind of RPG satisfaction you’d get from a company like Camelot.
According to Schipper, the first attempt was dull because the actors were too cautious, being afraid to make mistakes; the second attempt was the opposite, as the actors went “crazy”. Schipper says he became “angry” and “terrified” after seeing the second take and realizing he had only one chance left; in a subsequent meeting, he gave the cast a “hairdryer speech … [it] was not a meeting that ended in hugs and ‘good talk.’ It was crazy. But the tension was built on knowing we wanted the same thing”. Schipper believes the final attempt was successful because there was an element of “aggression” missing from the other versions.[7]
Added to my watch list, I’m super intrigued to see how the final cut turned out.
Thanks for bringing the comic to my attention in the first place! I agree that the concept sounds so wild that I have to have it. That bat-family-detective inspired itch got me scratching until I dug into the credits. I vaguely remembered a buddy had a Batman Noir edition of something but didn’t confirm until today that I didn’t imagine it and it was the Noir edition of The Dark Knight Returns (which I guess is right at home for Frank Miller).
The TDKR Noir was pretty cool too! I think color does a lot to sell the scope of the world, stories, uniforms, etc., but seeing just the pencils and ink makes the art really stand out in a different way.
