  • In Europe a lot of countries name the “ground level” floor something because historically “zero” was a bad number, so they instead called it something else because the logic was to start at 0.

It’s kinda like how some buildings in the USA exclude the 13th floor.

Little fun fact btw - the whole foods database used to exclude Friday the 13th. Found this out when I worked there and was trying to show my receipt for something I got, and when the manager looked, we couldn’t find it. Then another coworker came in and brought up something they brought up the day before and it couldn’t be found either.

After a bit, we found it Thursday 12th, but then when scrolling saw it skipped Friday 13th and instead went straight to Saturday 14th.

  • My mom led horror movies but was too scared to watch them alone.

For some reason she thought kids don’t really remember things until around 6 years old.

So with her I watched hellraiser, IT, Freddy Krueger, Chuckee, The Thing (Carpenter version), Amytiville horror, Pet Sementary, Alien, the exorcist, and some others when I was 4 and 5.

Only ones that really freaked me out as a kid was Chuckee, and that hellraiser movie where pinhead comes out of a screen specifically (the third hellraiser I think?). Alien and Amytiville were my favorite ones.

  • It is worse.

If the living partial liver doesn’t take hold, it dies off and becomes necrotic, and would need another surgery to take out or it’ll become necrotic and they’ll die of sepsis. It’s also unlikely they’d survive such second surgery, due to the already existing liver failure + first surgery trauma.

In this case, you’d be asking doctors to directly kill the patient in a more painful way for a very tiny chance that it may save them, on top of if they do survive, assuming they don’t relapse into alcoholism and die anyway. All while technically injuring someone else (the live donor).
