Awesome thanks for the advice. Id seen conflicting info on zwave vs zigbee for switches. One of the main things was wifi interference, but i live in a remote place and dont have a ton of wifi devices or outside interference. Also ill most likely be running a ubiquiti ap cause i use ubiquiti at work and am comfortable with it. Should be super solid.

The NSA had a program called DROPOUTJEEP according to an article in Der Spiegel. Think it came out with Snowden? Fuzy on details but you can look into it. It did include camera access but i dont think it could be installed remotely. Id be surprised if theres anything the NSA cant intercept but thats obviously what they would want us to think and Im just a guy.

I was expecting to see China as the leader here but its American Oil and Chemical companies financed by British and American banks. And they are pushing to produce more despite all the problems they are creating. Insanity.

Im always on the search for a great pen light. I work in live audio. Im backstage at concerts essentially and am using flashlights constantly. Unfortunately ive always found lithium sized lights too big since im also carrying a knife, leatherman, walkie talkie, tour passes, earplug case, blah blah blah. I end up buying cheap pen lights but am def on the lookout for aa or aaa lights that have functionality and good build quality. Ideally one that can be white light or red with adjustable brightness. Not sure if thats a thing.

I think Lenny can be just as good if not better. It’s gonna be a wild ride with how beta everything is and who’s gonna pay for it etc, but it’s fun to be a part of it in this phase of its development.

I dont care about karma but i do like to see a users history, something i apparently cant do on mlem. Not sure if thats site-wide or just this app. Without that i wouldnt be able to confidently use the buy-sell communities that i did on reddit like knife_swap or watchexchange.
OP here. I called ecobee and got great answers immediately from them. Their customer support is really good.
They said the both the Taco and Honeywell zone controllers work well but recommended the homeywell because of how its transformer is set up. Makes wiring easier.
I can have one thermostat location and have it respond to sensors setup in appropriate locations in the rooms that need it. It can also run the fan via air quality monitor (VOC) although I may end up doing this via home assistant via a dedicated co2 sensor.
