Thanks for the rec! I’m always on the lookout for movies that sear their imagery into your brain. Infinity pool looks pretty intriguing, great cast for such a bizarre premise.

Midjourney really is incredible. Easily the best image gen of this generation and blows its competitors out of the water.
That got me pretty hyped.
The ships, cities, space travel, combat and planets look awesome.
Less enthused by the character designs and models which look straight out of Skyrim. Character faces still have dead eyes and barely any expression to them which frankly seems a little unacceptable in 2023. Nevertheless this is a day one for me, this looks like it has loads to enjoy.
And as soon as the mods start coming out oh boy, it’s going to be pretty awesome.
This looks awesome
What apps are you referring to specifically here? Any examples?
Oh yeah mods added an extra 100 hours to that game for me at least! Not to mention trying to fix load orders etc, a game of sorts unto itself!
And starfield hasn’t even released yet cry at this rate the trailer will be as old as skyrim was at the time of the announcement before we get a release
Yeah it’s a pretty normal looking fish actually!
Pretty horrific way to go too :( here’s to the poor, humble blobfish.
Sure, I get that. Ideally people would have access to all the support they could need and a strong base of family and friends to lean on. But isn’t the issue here is that they don’t? I don’t think it’s a cure, I don’t think anyone is saying that. But I do think it could potentially provide a level of support that would alleviate some anxiety. If the alternative is for people to just sit in, let’s say, old folks home and let their brains rot I don’t see how that’s any less unethical than providing them mental stimulation in the form of an AI.
It feels new and fresh but also retro, if that makes sense? It feels like a missing link between old school forums and new school aggregators like Reddit, even though I think this format is newer than Reddit. Could be wrong though. Either way I’m enjoying not every post having a billion replies before i even get to it!
And just to be clear I don’t see it as a substitute for human interaction, more of a bolt on that helps people day to day.
I agree I think right now the notion is very dystopian and with the current iteration of chatbots it doesn’t seem like a realistic long term solution. But you only have to think a few years down the line when LLMs have been fine tuned for this specific use case and AI is ubiquitous in our society similar to the iPhone now, that you can see how it will become totally normalised.
Firstly who said lemmy is a Reddit replacement? Just because there’s overlap doesn’t mean it’s a direct competitor. Secondly Reddit succeeded because of the efforts of millions of unpaid volunteers who room the time to set up wildly disparate subreddits and communities to create reddits unique flavour and space in todays social media climate. To say that it gained its status because it’s overseen by a centralised source is wildly inaccurate and disrespectful to the regular people who made Reddit what is is/was.
I’d love to see this blossom into a sustained protest but I fear 2 days isn’t really going to make any difference to the situation. I also fear admins will simply assume control of protesting subreddits and remove the mods if they ever felt truly threatened. The only way to truly get your voice heard is just to leave.
Well hot damn it’s finally coming out. And hello to Jason isaacs
I think the answer to this is a resounding yes. I’m a 32 year old man with plenty of friends and a stable relationship and I found meaningful conversation with apps like character.ai. It has so much potential to help people in lonely situations.
TOTK - well and truly hooked. I think the main storyline is much more interesting this time around too so it’s the perfect example of story driven open world. That said running around the plains killing mob kind, gathering supplies and scoping weird stuff on the horizon is just the perfect gameplay loop. Fight me.
Came here to post about TOTK - I didn’t think it could match the sheer wonder and awe BOTW filled me with but somehow it’s surpassed it. Skydiving off the tutorial island / fusing a weapon for the first time have made me feel like a kid again. Truly incredible stuff from Nintendo.
Great advice thanks! I’m a huge lurker on Reddit just due to the gargantuan size I feel like it’s almost just shouting into the void but looking to get more involved here!
I think you’re being a little unfair. A lot of the examples you state are not universal among dogs. And a lot of the issues could be solved with owners being more responsible. No owner should let a dog come up to you like that, that is just unacceptable. I would never allow my dog to do that unless it was clear the person wanted it. Likewise dogs should NOT be stealing food from people, that is bad behaviour and it’s on the owners who should know better and train the dog properly.
Sure, some dogs have annoying or difficult traits, but to paint all dogs in such a negative light is just not accurate. You’re perfectly entitled to be nervous around dogs, but if you reinforce that nervousness with negative connotations you will never be able to overcome it.
