I came here from Reddit
I have no idea what I’m doing but I never do xD
I study environmental science and I have interests in cycling, climate action, video games and many other things.
I study environmental science and I can believe it, every model I’ve used all the sources I’ve used that predict have been conservative in numbers compared to what’s going on.
The problem is we are never going to do what needs to be done because capitalism is the literal cause and the world is addicted to capitalism because none of the companies are going to do what they need to do unless it’s profitable.
I wonder what was said in the meeting because wager was steam rolling. It smells like it was preplanned with the Russian state
No it does not, 70% of emissions is by corporations
No it’s not EVs are 60% less polluting than fuel vehicles, it’s irrelevant if you buy it used because it’s history is part of its impact.
The over arching problem is there’s too many vehicles on the road, most people including Americans when they drive only drive up to 3 miles.
I’m iffy about Lenin too. Marx and Engels wrote about bottom up socialism but Lenin came along and basically said the working class is too stupid for a socialist revolution and opted for top down socialism which led to authoritarian socialism and state capitalism.
Our neolib capitalist society is top down governance which is why I highly oppose everything that isn’t bottom up socialism
No horseshoe theory is not confirmed lol
Capitalism has already taken away my ability to buy enough food, afford transport etc the people who argue in favour of capitalism always uses the negativity of capitalism and applies it so socialism it’s fucking stupid.
Yes it cannot be saved because by nature it’s contradictory and exploitative, all of the problems are caused by capitalism because without those problems people would be able to question for another system.
This is a step in the right direction, but because phones are now extremely sophisticated they frequent need security updates, but phone manufacturers only support a phone for about 3 years that also needs tackling because that will also help reduce ewaste.
I’m not on Lemmy but kbin and it’s been like that here as well, and from what I understand it’s due to a mass of users from reddit slowing everything down and setting off ddos protections.
Yeah I think so, sometimes when I refresh i get a cloudflare error or the page takes longer to load.
With a lot of people moving over from Reddit it’s going to be a crazy few days/weeks.
All of the subreddits I frequent all stated they’re closing the subreddits down and deleting their accounts so there’s no reason for me to be on Reddit anymore and I can’t justify staying on the platform when Reddit is acting the way it is.
It’s sad still, but now I’m trying to learn about fediverse and try new things.
Just like the discourse to sanitise pride so it’s family friendly, all this is about is trying to make their platforms “family friendly” to attract advertisers and that’s it.
