An average bowling ball is 8.5 inches in diameter, giving it a cross sectional surface area of roughly 60 sq in. Restricting ourselves to feathers made by non-human animals, the longest feather measured was on a Yokohama chicken at 34 feet / 400+ inches. I can’t find the width of the feather, but it’s still likely it outdoes an average bowling ball.

Depends on the feather and the bowling ball. Even relatively small (by volume) feathers might outdo a bowling ball thanks to the numerous fine shapes they have.

If the island were 100 times larger, the houses would take 1% of the land area, leaving 99%. The apartment complex would take up .04%, leaving 99.96%, which isn’t much of an improvement. The proportions of our planet are much closer to my scenario than this made up island. That’s a reason why we might not “prefer apartments in our own town.”

Remember kids, when brown people do something bad, it’s terrorism. When white people starve an entire population after a failed occupation, that’s just because we are very concerned about misogyny. Now, starving an entire country en masse has (to my knowledge) never caused a government to be overthrown, and in this case has no chance of improving the treatment of women in the country. Nor have women in Afghanistan ever asked for sanctions, nor do they support them now that they are in place. But don’t let that fool you in to thinking we’re doing it for any reason other than to help women in Afghanistan.
