Google’s messaging app actually has a desktop browser based client that you can use to send messages from your computer. So that might actually be a good solution for you. I use it regularly and have no complaints about either the phone app or the web app.
The only way I enjoy drinking robusta is doing Vietnamese coffee with a phin and adding plenty of sweetened condensed milk. One thing to be aware of is that robusta has about double the caffeine of arabica. So depending on how caffeine affects you, you might want to take it easy.
Not a snake, but it definitely worked. Heading into surgery shortly to have my jaw reattached. 5/7
I’m curious how big of a dip there was with macOS when they fully dropped 32 bit support. I’m just one person but a lot of the games I played through steam were older 32 bit games. I don’t think I’ve opened steam on my Mac since that update.
It bothers me that people find it out so supremely confusing and it’s definitely an issue that needs to be addressed because it’s definitely keeping people away. The fact of the matter is, you can go to any Lemmy instance and get that front page experience because the r/all equivalent of each instance shows threads from every other instance (minus defederated, etc but that’s beside the point).
Sync helps in that it is a familiar and polished look and feel for those who used third party Reddit apps, but outside of that it’s just another Lemmy app.
Probably the biggest factor in the confusion is fediverse terms being used to describe the fediverse, which is basically speaking nonsense if you don’t already understand it.
There’s this: Lemmy is a federated link aggregator where anyone can start an instance and communities within that instance and all the instances can communicate and share information. Doesn’t it sound amazing?
Then there’s this: Lemmy is like a version of Reddit where there’s a whole bunch of separate reddit dot coms. You can sign up for whichever one you like to be your home “reddit”. The reddits are all connected, so you can subscribe to subreddits on the other reddits while just logged into your home. You can also post to them, comment, and see the posts and comments from your home.
I’m sure there’s some analogy out there that really boils it down well much better than mine, so please share if you think of one.
Loving it so far! I think everyone freaking out about the pricing needs to chill out and just use a different app.
There’s one thing I’m curious about and wasn’t able to find in the settings. Do we have the ability to turn off the red/blue highlighting on the action area for a post we’ve voted? I don’t like how it looks and find that the font color for the vote count is perfectly sufficient for me to know that I’ve upvoted and downvoted.
There needs to be better awareness and support structure for postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis. It is truly horrifying and when you’re a parent, you often don’t realize it’s happening until things are really bad. The mother has really scary intrusive thoughts (sometimes intensely violent) and often does not feel safe to open up and get help. There are many tragic stories out there where things spiraled completely out of control and ended up in infanticide or suicide, sometimes both.
Mothers and their partners/spouses preparing to have children need to learn how to identify it and have a plan for what to do if it happens. It’s more common than you might think, and support is needed when it happens.

Haven’t used sync before, but I’m really digging the amount of flexibility in customizing how it looks. Thank you for your hard work in developing this so quickly!
My local store had numerous room temp superconductors right next to the perpetual motion machines.
I’m not sure how reliable eBay in Europe is, but I would suggest finding one available from a highly rated seller on eBay.
Espresso is a big learning curve, especially if you want to get good at milk steaming, but the end result is fantastic once you get the hang of it.
I bought the 2019 model of the Gaggia Classic Pro earlier this year and really love it. I have a lot of prior experience as I was a manager and barista in a specialty coffee shop for a while, so that definitely expedited the process of learning how to get great results out of the machine. You may not have that experience to go off of, but there are a ton of great resources online for learning.
What grinder do you have? There’s a good chance you’re grinder may not grind fine enough or consistently enough for espresso. The one thing a lot of beginners underestimate when getting started is how important it is to have a good electric burr grinder that’s made to handle grinding for espresso. Those can cost a lot of money and generally run $300+ for entry level espresso grinding. All that said, for just getting started, I think it’s totally fine to have your local coffee shop grind your coffee for espresso while you start learning the process.
I’m not sure how the Evo comes set up, but the older model was not set up for espresso enthusiasts but rather consumers who aren’t looking to get too deep into it. As a result there were a couple upgrades that I found necessary out of the box; namely the tamper was just a piece of plastic, the portafilter came set up as a pressurized portafilter so I had to remove that piece of it, and the machine was set to 15 bar pressure so I had to switch out the OPV spring to get 9 bars. The Evo machine comes set at 9 bars out of the box so you won’t have to worry about that. I’m not sure about the tamper/portafilter situation though.
Espresso is a blast one you get the feel for it! Let me know if you have any other questions, I’m happy to help!
I think you may be mistaken. The Evo is simply the latest model of the Gaggia Classic Pro. It is a portafilter espresso machine. It is semi automatic in the sense that it has a pump and a boiler, but is not automatic in the sense that it has an integrated grinder and does the whole process for you.
This is amazing
Yeah I have the feeling a lot of them are as bad or in some cases worse than bicycles upfitted with gas engines.

One of the reasons the Hollywood strikes have the potential of working is because of the strong unions where the union workers are not even allowed to do any acting or writing related work at all while they’re striking. The music industry does not have that. Thousands of people could join a music “strike” and it wouldn’t remotely move the needle since there’s nothing stopping everyone else from just continuing on. I think your point about the atomized nature of the justice business makes it nearly impossible.
Practically there needs to be an organizer. Maybe it could be as simple as a top musician leading the charge by saying they will pull their music off of all streaming platforms until those platforms offer a base pay of X per stream. It would have to be really public and they then would need to get as many others on board as they can. If a large movement of people comes out of that pulling their music from streaming, maybe that could move the needle.
Another issue is that streaming platforms allowed the general public to spend significantly less on music. Instead of buying one album for $10-15, you now can spend that per month for access to basically all the music you need. I don’t think the streaming services would be able to just straight up start paying musicians a whole lot more without that completely breaking their model. Film and TV studios started paying less residuals, but to my knowledge they didn’t make significantly less money on the top end as well. With music it’s a much more delicate ecosystem where if the streaming services charge more so they can pay more, they’ll start losing subscribers. And if they charge the amounts they would need for musicians to make a decent living, they would lose a LOT of subscribers.
In essence, the music industry is completely fucked right now and I don’t see a way out of it any time soon.
Does anyone have a paywall-removed version of this? I tried putting it through 12ft Ladder, but apparently that tool is disabled for NYT.
