The tankie thing keeps pushing me away from lemmy, but lemmy seems to be the only software getting clients at the moment. So I’m torn. I want an iOS client badly, but I don’t want to support tankies.
I suppose I shouldn’t sell out for a nice app though.
Ham radio. It’s a lot of fun and has something for everyone. I like the outdoors, so I took my portable gear to a park and operated Parks on the Air today. There are all kinds of digital modes for people who love computers, there’s morse code, there’s using kites to hoist your antenna, hot air balloons, talking with the space station, etc. All kinds of stuff. If you’re the least bit nerdy, it likely has something for you.
I created the powerlifting magazine over on lemmy and have been posting into the void there lol. Hopefully some people move over and use it. Otherwise it feels like I’m just using it as a personal blog or something.
That’s why I nuked all my posts and edited every one of my comments to point to kbin / lemmy before deleting my account. They may revert my changes, but I at least wanted to try to prevent them from benefiting from me in any way.

Yeah I had to be really sneaking navigating there and blocking it so my wife didn’t see and ask questions, lol.
So I’ve gone to https://kbin.social/d/lemmynsfw.com, which pulled up that instance, but how do I then block that instance?
Can that be done by users account level or does ernest have to do it for the entire instance?
This isn’t happening though. I am subscribed to a few communities from lemmy.ml that definitely have posts, and there are other subscribers from kbin, but no posts show when viewing from kbin. It has been like that for a couple days. Check these out, for example:

I’m sure it relies on users using the NSFW tag on their posts, which can be unreliable. I’d be ok with an option to remove the random section altogether.

Yes, at least in the US, we get a ton of ads via mail (post). It’s a huge pain. I use iOS and I don’t think there are any Instagram alternative apps.
I’m experiencing the same with the top right search. I’m assuming something is broken but I wanted to bring it up just in case.
Edit: top right search is now working, but the communities still aren’t being found.
It has become that way in the US.
So the backend is coded in Rust? I’ve been learning the language but haven’t actually used it outside of tutorials yet. I’m experienced in C++ and know how to program so I may look into it while I’m unemployed.
My pihole helps quite a bit, but some still sneak in. I had to use a VPN to get a cheap rate for Youtube premium which helps a ton. Instagram ads and mail ads are unavoidable still.
I am so sick of ads being everywhere. It’s such a mental load.
