I’m about halfway through Death in the Spires by K.J. Charles. It’s not as detective-y as I was hoping for, but I’m still finding it quick and absorbing.

Finished Auberon by James S.A. Corey, which was good.

DNFed A Man With One of Those Faces by Caimh McDonnell about 25% through. The story seemed interesting, but I wasn’t vibing with the writing.

Finished Roadside Picnic by Arkady & Boris Strugatsky. The world-building around the Zone was as cool as I’d hoped, and I appreciated that expeditions into it were realistically strenuous, grimy, and dangerous. The overall tone is a bit bleak, though, and I didn’t find the characters particularly relatable. There’s a cool afterward from one of the authors, describing how difficult it was to get the book published (and when it was, how censored it had to be).

True, but I think maybe you missed this being about additive and subtractive color mixing.

100% agree; I was so bummed Riddick was just inferior Pitch Black. The animated one, Dark Fury, was fun, though, iirc.

So, I feel like 2, maybe with 3 in certain high-traffic areas, would be a good idea, for a couple reasons:

1. increased visibility for vehicles, particularly in places with a lot of pedestrians, who might not all have their own lights or be too inebriated to use them.
2. nighttime socializing outdoors, such as markets, streets with lots of nightlife, plazas, etc. Sure, small personal lights could become incorporated into fashion, but those also need to be powered, and would have to illuminate faces without blinding anyone. Public lighting just seems easier.
3. less isolating for night shift workers (if that’s a thing in the world you’re writing).

Could even have 2 shut off in quieter neighborhoods that have no open businesses during the wee hours.

Not Gamescom-related, but there was a Nintendo Direct that showed off some indie/partner games on the 27th, and a CoD thing today (the 28th), if either of those were what you were thinking of?

Only other thing that comes to mind is maybe the Future Games Show, but that was last week (list of trailers here).

This seems to be set in the same universe as The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion, which I enjoyed. Gonna have to bump Part 2 up my to-be-watched list.

I just throw them into whatever I’m making that uses the florets (peeled and chopped, ofc), and it’s always been fine. Alternatively, try shredding/julienning them (again, peeling first) and throwing them into a fresh batch of coleslaw.

I’m a serial lurker, but I’ve been wanting to say thank you for putting this community together, and doing all the hard work to keep it going! I appreciate the wide variety of trailers you pick out; it’s a nice mix of mainstream stuff and more niche things I wouldn’t otherwise know existed.

I don’t really min/max profit too much when I play, so I might not be the best person to ask, but I’ll try to give you some things to consider!

For year 1 (not year 2) Spring, I’ve seen a lot of people suggest either parsnips or potatoes. Parsnips get you farming XP faster–plus you get gold star turnips for the community center–but potatoes are higher profit per plant, so you won’t have as many energy issues trying to water everything. Also, you might want to save up some money for the Egg Festival…

Btw, fishing can be a good source of fast cash, if you don’t mind the fishing mechanic.

Don’t worry, time doesn’t affect the Joja/community center thing. You’re good to do it at your own pace.

If you’re having fun, you’re doing what you should be. If you’re getting bored, however, and you’re past Spring 5, there’s a couple of things you might have missed:

• You should have a quest or two in your log to give you a goal or two. Not sure what the button to open the quest log is on switch, but there should be one.
• Some days, the Help Wanted board outside Pierre’s will have a villager request you can do. You won’t be able to do all the requests at this point, and they do have a 2 day time limit, but the money and friendship are nice early on.
• Have you been checking your mail? You should have gotten a letter asking you to come by a place. ::: spoiler Willy’s fish shop :::
• Also in the mail: you should have gotten a notice that a new area has opened up. ::: spoiler the mine :::
• Enter town from the bus stop between 8am and 1pm on a non-rainy day for an important cutscene. If you’ve already seen it, but don’t know how to progress, make sure to look around inside, especially at shiny things. ::: spoiler the community center :::
