They’ve followed through on their promises so far, and you can actually self-host pretty much the whole stack today:

I’d perfer for mastodon to take off personally, but really at this point both are good options and worlds better than twitter.
Hey, sorry I missed this. Not sure what’s going on with that - the post you’ve got there is deleted though.
Unfortunately, it looks like both Sync and Jerboa do not yet support the backend changes made in version 0.19 🙁
I didn’t really want to upgrade to 0.19-rc yet because I was worried that something like this would happen, but the CSAM/Moderation problem has come up often enough that I felt it was safer to have the better moderation tools and risk some breakage.
Hopefully Sync and Jerboa will be updated soon, as 0.19 should have it’s full release any day now. If you’re willing to try some other mobile apps in the meantime, here are some that are already 0.19 compatible:
Apologies for the inconvenience. 🙇
possumpat.io is the instance this community is hosted on. It’s a (bad) domain name joke😅
We’re set on moderators for now, though thanks for your interest.
Welcome! It’s a bit slow around here compared to reddit but the vibes are chill. 😎
I love cbu3 leaning into the Phoenix as their mascot, glad we’re finally getting the coil version as a mount.
It’d been a while since they put one of these on because of Covid, but apparently they’re always a bit of a mess.
Had a pretty great time! Was nice seeing online friends in person. The event itself was poorly managed though😅
Pretty much same experience here. I had some fun with it as an overwatch replacement for a couple weeks after launch, but it was pretty rough around the edges and the monetization was… yeah.
Not surprised they’re killing it already, maybe someday Bandai will give us an actually good Gundam game again. From Software is making more Armored Core in collaboration with Bamco already, I’d love to see them take the IP and do something with it.
Soon as I find some time to figure out lemmy bots, I’d like to automate this kind of thing - unless you want to keep doing it manually! 😅
Kamille, listen, who cares if your name is a girl’s name. And it is, Kamille. It is. But it doesn’t have to–put down the ball–it doesn’t have to define you because you can CHANGE it, Kamille. Buy a mask or some sunglasses and call yourself WHATEVER you want. People are idiots. Also it’s pronounced BAH-JEEN-AH. Of course I know how it SOUNDS, Kamille. I’m not an IDIOT. I’m a drunk who makes poor choices. Let’s see you stay off the sauce after your first few war crimes, Kamille. Let’s see how sober YOU are. Now shut up and get back in the cockpit.
Sounds like a cool idea! I’m putting together some thoughts about coordinating moderation as we continue to grow and add communities, I’ll send you a DM soon.
I think I might know what’s going on - peeking in the database, it looks like you somehow disallowed notifications for all languages other than “undetermined” in your profile.
Can you try enabling all languages in your settings and see if that fixes the issue?
In that picture, can you share the contents of the “console” tab in that inspect view? I think there will be a more helpful error message there.
well that’s… not very descriptive. I’ll dig into the logs and see what I can find.
Can you give a screenshot of the error on possumpat.io? That sounds like something that neeeds investigation
Yeah, comparing the comment chains between us and lemmy.ca, it seems like everything is okay:

Federation weirdness from the large instances is probably going to happen for a while - I believe there are some changes coming soon in 18.1 that will hopefully smooth some of that out.
That aspect of ffxiv is one of my favorite things about it - there’s almost no fomo / season pass shenanigans (outside of pvp). I’ve been playing since the 2.X days and the way everything is designed around playing at your own pace has really made it easy to enjoy over the years.
me rn under a blanket at my desk doing server maintenance.
You can run your own relay, though:

I do prefer Activitypub overall, and it’s certainly more mature, but any efforts towards decentralization should be encouraged/celebrated.
