1·1 year agoIt seems that it doesn’t override the setting “Allow messages only from people you follow” if you had it configured like this, which IRC was the previous default. So I don’t really see the issue with this tbh.

Why do you say it has a negative reputation? I’m in the PHP community and a lot of great things have happened in the last decade, there’s tons of positive momentum and the language has matured a lot.
