When I watched this as a kid/teen I though that Troi was the beautiful one but look at Crusher here. Gorgeous. I don’t blame the ghost.

It’s mad to think that that’s small change for them
I can’t believe you’re only just moving to object storage! Offload that stuff as much as possible (this is probably a grandmother suck eggs situation, I know).
When you say “photo database”, do you mean Lemmy literally stores the binary image files in the db, or just the storage area for images (ofc linked to from the db)?
That is horrific. In my day job, I stored images in a database in my first job, learnt my lesson and now have an allergic reaction just thinking about it.
Good work, team 👍
PaddedPerson wasn’t an admin just a moderator, right? So there’s a few unhappy people behind the scenes?
I’d definitely post more from there if the embed was as nice as e.g. using RES.
authcom
Is auth short for authoritarian or authentic?
It’s a pain in the ass, but we REALLY need to be making sure our content properly tagged so that it doesn’t pop up in federated instances as untagged nsfw content. There will likely be a crackdown on said posts that are not tagged properly, so please be aware of this fact and triple check that your posts are properly tagged.
Lemmy’s stance is that content can only be edited by the author or removed by mods/admins - that’s fair enough. What I disagree with them about is that that applies to tags too - I don’t want to have to delete posts just because they aren’t tagged correctly.
Where do people stand on allowing editing of nsfw tags?
I decided I was happy not knowing.
I understand the workload, even just finding content to bootstrap communities is taking more of my life than I want. Thank you for filling a hole in Lemmy when it was needed, I hope your replacement can keep the ship running as smoothly as this.
Yeah, and the whole thing add up to 138.33% on yours. I see something more sane:

I voted no, although I nearly voted for the “only in certain comms” option. I’ve got the beginnings of a tool that will make it easy for people to select content from the reddit backups, but I didn’t intend to make it automatic, just something that helped people find content.
If it’s got its own API key, it’ll probably stay under the limits, and if not there’s other ways like RSS/Atom or web scraping.
There is a setting on an account that says it’s a bot account and I think I remember seeing it mentioned after the username in a similar way to how nsfw posts are flagged.
Yes, and you can also edit links and even both write and link something at once! The luxury!
I also like the idea that the process is out in the open.
I think even people who weren’t on reddit knew that that was a useful trick.
Crossposting notices don’t seem to show up on posts or in communities with this update, although I can see it noted on the home screen list.
