Fun fact: almost no country has legal requirements to operate a forklift. But almost every country requires your employer to “properly instruct” you in the use of heavy machinery, and for reasons of legal ass covering, they all use external certification.

But there is basically nothing preventing you from some private recreational forklift operating

That sounds like a horrible idea. If you operate a forklift without proper training, some really bad stuff can happen.

Nope, don’t even need anything other than payment to drive away with one, hell you can even rent heavy machinery with no licenses.

Remember kids, if you’re going to learn to operate heavy machinery, use someone else’s first!

Alright so here’s a hot take for you, operating a forklift isn’t hard. Literally just go slow and pay attention and you’ll be fine.

You’re right, you also have to pull assorted clearly labeled levers. But I put that under “pay attention”

I’ve been driving a forklift for like 12 years at various places, and I’m stupid as fuck. It’s not hard.
