It’s worse than that. At the point at which I stopped reading, there was an actual rape scene that went on for like four or five pages for some reason. I couldn’t bring myself to continue reading it after that.
Yeah this was my take as well. IIRC it doesn’t really start to ease off until around chapter 270 or something.

Unfortunately, no, it gets worse. It’s only by the Fantasia Arc of 2010 (35 volumes into the series) that the series starts lightening up on the gruesome SA, and instead just has lots of ultraviolence and loli stuff.
I do think Berserk is a legitimately great series with a lot of interesting things to say, but it’s very flawed and uncomfortable to read (in a bad way).
