it’s much more than a handful. i agree with your broad point, but i think there’s not actually more great stuff now, simply because of production realities. so much stuff just never gets the chance to end satisfactorily because it’s always limited to 12 episodes. still plenty of great stuff of course, but there was plenty of amazing stuff in the 80s and 90s as well. the 2 best tv anime of all time were in the 90s and the best movie was 2001, and i don’t think there’s anything that even comes close

akira is gorgeous but i read the manga and that was a better told story and it ruined the movie a little for me. i mean i obviously still love it, but it’s not perfect for me in the way millennium actress is
