The suspect nabbed in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is an anti-capitalist Ivy League grad who liked online quotes from “Unabomber’’ Ted Kaczynski — and seethed in a three-page …
I remember watching a documentary on him and they had a montage of interviews where there was one environmental activist being like “He was right about all the stuff but he shouldn’t have bombed people.”
Which stuck with me for being very funny given that the manifesto is in service of justifying bombing people.
It’s pretty common for right wing nerds to use the unibomber manifesto as their one single, token piece of “leftist” theory they’ve engaged with so they can pull the old "unlike you I can read books I disagree with "
I think it’s mostly because 1) it’s edgy 2) no real leftist movement developed from or even has been attached to it, so it’s harmless to them and 3) he spends quite a lot of it ranting about feminists from what I remember
honestly ted was a stupid asshole, he mostly killed academics and he blamed technology for things that could be entirely attributed to capitalism. his legacy is the idea that the only alternative to how we live rn is caveman
Genuinely just a reactionary fascist in his social views, it’s really easy to tell if someone has not read the manifesto past the opening if they try and argue that he’s either a leftist or outside of standard politics, cause basically his first complaint is he’s not allowed to use insensitive terms for women, black people, and asians.
His goodreads does not have me very optimistic that hes a comrade lol.

I mean I want to read it so I can laugh at it. That said, our guy here probably wasn’t going to laugh at it.
He gave four stars to Uncle Ted
its so funny to give the unabomber manifesto a 4/5. like what you have notes? its not quite the perfect manifesto???

honestly? no ideology, just pure vibes
I don’t think this man has brainworms because even worms require oxygen to live
where there should be grey matter there is just a void studded with chat-GPT prompts like the twinkling ghosts of long-dead stars

God damn, that’s a lot of self-help books.
Him falling off of Harry Potter after like three books is pretty funny.

Yeah, to be clear I’m not pro Ted, I just think it’s funny how ideologically inconsistent is this guy is.
